Beyond Stigma and Empathy

For the first pilot from Ways of Seeing Invisible Illness, videographer Enya Fortuna created a short film capturing the experiences of people with conditions named melanoma, multiple sclerosis and hip dysplasia. They communicated insights living with their condition and how stigma or empathy can manifest in different situations. This revealed how a lack of wider understanding creates challenges in work and life, as well as what can bring about positive change in building a caring and inclusive society.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who agreed to share their stories and to Professor Nicol Keith (School of Cancer Sciences, University of Glasgow) for his contribution and support for the project.
